My world is non-existent without Tennis, Football (Soccer) and Formula 1. This is my medium to share with the world my love for sports and my take on some particular athletes. I am always open to follow and enjoy other sports apart of the 3 listed here. For example, when I am in the USA, I love watching the NBA. In Europe it is a bit unfortunate because of the time difference. If you are into other sport types, please I will love to get your enthusiasm for it, share and win us over.

Sheryl Ndasi of Splendisheryl and myself, have decided to embark on a six months sports Challenge. We are calling on all our friends and followers to join us.

As well as maintain a balanced weight gain and fight obesity, engaging in regular physical exercises is very effective in increasing lifespan, decreasing the effects of aging and benefiting the cardiovascular system.

Sheryl and I have decided on Jogging. Why? Because, Jogging can be very helpful in reducing the risk of lung, colon, breast and prostate cancers, among others.  It prevents muscle and bone damage that often occurs with age, improves heart performance and blood circulation and assists in preserving a balanced weight gain. So as you can see, jogging is Diamond, and the good news is, you can have it for FREE. All you need is your running gear and off you hit the tracks, any day, any time. You do not necessarily need a gym to run. Open air/Outdoor running is even much better than using a treadmill as it improves energy level and increases concentration. If you are an indoor running person, then please keep at it. Important is, you keep exercising. We are starting on Feb 2, doing 2 days a week per 30 minutes and slowly build up speed and pace. You can start with less, you can start with more. Essential is, you determine the rhythm that works best for you.

Highlights of round 2 Australian Open (Days 3&4)

Nadal crumbles down in Victory

Nadal crumbles down in Victory

Rafael Nadal overcame illness to avoid a shock defeat in the 2nd round of the Australian Open, winning American Tim Smyczek in a dramatic 5 set thriller Wednesday on the Rod Laver Arena. Nadal, who has never lost to a qualifier in a grand slam, looked on course to suffer that fate at the hands of Smyczek. The 28-year-old Nadal sought treatment from the tournament doctor early in the 3rd set and looked physically drained as he failed to serve out the set at 5-4. Given the suffering, the Spaniard still pushed through to claim victory 6-2 3-6 6-7(2) 6-3 7-5. “I don’t know what was going on,” Nadal said in a courtside interview. “I started to have cramps in different places. I was not in the perfect shape.” Visibly struggling to stay afloat, Rafael Nadal has shown again the substance great fighters are made of.

Serena Williams AO 2015

Serena Williams AO 2015

All hail the Queen. In her 100th straight week at World No.1, Serena Williams breezes through her 1st round game in Melbourne, beating Van Uytvanck 6-0 6-4. Ms Williams, sleek as ever in a killer outfit, was a delight to watch. She might have had a few problems with her serve, but hey, win she did. As Serena herself rightly said, “It’s never super easy to be the one that everyone wants to beat. So I always have to be a little bit above. But I felt okay. I definitely think I can improve a tremendous amount.” She will be facing former World No. 2 Zvonareva in the next rounds. “To meet such a (formerly) high-ranked player in the second round is not going to be easy for me. She does so many things well. She’s on the way back. I know she’s been fighting and playing really hard. I have to be ready. I have to come out of the gates ready to go and be the best I can be” Serena said. All eyes on Ms Williams and her Outfit 😉

Rafa’s Summer Set launched Fast4 Tennis last January 14 at the Margaret Court Arena. Prior to the main event, mixed doubles demonstrated the new format conceptualised by Tennis Australia. There was entertainment from dance numbers, players coming to the court enveloped in dry ice, and a deejay playing music between points. Nadal won the sets played against Omar Jasika (US Junior Open 2014 winner) and Mark Philouppousis (former world number 8). The culmination was a win in a five set ‘rematch’ of the 2009 semi-final against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. The proceeds goes to the Rafa Nadal Foundation and Tennis Australia.

DAY 1 of the Australian Open

AO Melbourne 2015

AO Melbourne 2015

Australian Open, the first Grand slam of the year is on the run, with glam and pump. DAY 1 of the AO was quite exciting with some shocks and drama as is often expected of such tournaments.

Former world #1 A. Ivanovic, seeded 5 at the Australian Opens shockingly lost to unseeded Lucie Hradecka in a 3 sets game 6:1 3:6 1:6. The German pros, Lisicki and kerber both lost in 3 sets. Also out is former grand slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova and 17th seed Saurrez Navarro.

On the brighter side, Nr. 2 Maria Sharapova won with ease beating P. Martic 6:4 6:1. S. Halep, seeded 3 also had a painless win in 2 sets. E. Bouchard (7) and Makarova (10) are all through. Read the rest of this entry
