SIX MONTHS SPORTS CHALLENGE
Sheryl Ndasi of Splendisheryl and myself, have decided to embark on a six months sports Challenge. We are calling on all our friends and followers to join us.
As well as maintain a balanced weight gain and fight obesity, engaging in regular physical exercises is very effective in increasing lifespan, decreasing the effects of aging and benefiting the cardiovascular system.
Sheryl and I have decided on Jogging. Why? Because, Jogging can be very helpful in reducing the risk of lung, colon, breast and prostate cancers, among others. It prevents muscle and bone damage that often occurs with age, improves heart performance and blood circulation and assists in preserving a balanced weight gain. So as you can see, jogging is Diamond, and the good news is, you can have it for FREE. All you need is your running gear and off you hit the tracks, any day, any time. You do not necessarily need a gym to run. Open air/Outdoor running is even much better than using a treadmill as it improves energy level and increases concentration. If you are an indoor running person, then please keep at it. Important is, you keep exercising. We are starting on Feb 2, doing 2 days a week per 30 minutes and slowly build up speed and pace. You can start with less, you can start with more. Essential is, you determine the rhythm that works best for you.
It must not only be jogging. There are several amazing sports out there you might prefer. Dancing, for example liberates the soul. It is a good medium for socializing with others and it helps as well for weight loss and to keep healthy. Yoga helps you sleep better, improves health, heal aches and pains and keep sickness at bay. Aerobics does not only help to increase weight loss or maintain weight, it also strengthens the respiratory and heart muscles as well as tone body muscles, improve overall circulation, reduces blood pressure, boost immune system and boost mood in general. Swimming improves endurance, is fantastic for toning your muscle, excellent for weight loss and helps regulate breathing. Since there is no ground impact when you swim, it works perfectly for protecting the joints from stress and strain.
These are just a few amongst many such as Cycling, Hiking, Kick boxing, Taekwondo, Pilates, Ball games (e.g. football, handball, volleyball), Tennis etc. Imperative is, you have fun in whatever you do. I did Zumba for almost a year and a half and I really loved it. But I have now decided to try something else. So apart of the jogging which I will begin with Sheryl, I also recently started swimming, which I do every weekend. This is a build up to an advanced swimming course I plan to take in May. I will also be taking aerobic classes to replace my Zumba, starting March. Along with jogging, Sheryl will be doing Zumba and Hip Hop. It looks like quite a lot I know, and yes it is, but we are determined. Our overall intention is to exercise at least 3-4 days a week. And Yes You Can too.
You might be asking where we have the time to do all that, considering Sheryl and I are both full time working mothers. We already have the stress of dealing with family, work, friends and our blogs. So time is tight on us. But guess what, time we will create. We have discussed with our families and they are supportive. My son has even insisted to jog along with us. I know I make it sound easy, but we are realistic to know that it is not. But hey, was life ever easy? All it takes is to know what you want and as such, you make time for it. Set your goals and prioritize your time. At least try and if it fails, you know you tried. Be positive, be determined. My friend Ngum of De Braun Hill already engaged in jogging with the aim of doing 20 km/h. She is now on 15km/1.5h and she’s still going at it. That is determination.
Sheryl and I have decided to make jogging a new lifestyle. We will not end at the 6 months. The Challenge is just the beginning, our gate-way In. We plan on hitting the jogging circuit and make running feel like rocking a pair of Manolo Blahnik killa heels.
You want to stay young, sexy and healthy? Join these two determined sisters on our 6 Months exercise challenge.
Let’s Do it, let’s jog, let’s exercise. Make exercising your new #LifeStyle.
Visit My Sports Diary for updates on our track experiences. If you plan to join, please kindly inform us regularly on your experience(s) as well.

Congrats for the great challenge. They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. SO walking every day is equally advisable.
Just gather the remaining chocolates, heavy food stuffs etc, I will pass-by and collect them. Please equally do well to pass the same info to your friend. All those fat stuffs have to leave the house.. Forward forward… 🙂

Yay Ernny and great advice too. That’s why I advised each person to test their pace. If you can start with just 5ive minutes a day ok. Or start with walking like Bela suggested. Or visit your GP or a health expert like our girl Ernny advised! Let’s Rock our New Lifestyle!

It’s freezing cold in Chicago now, so running is out of the question, but it is my favorite work out. It is how I went from a size 16/18 teenager to my current size. Hope it gets warmer soon, my neighbors will call the cops on me soon from my working out indoors! Stay inspired ladies!
